DSM-5: "A mental disorder is a syndrome characterized by clinically significant disturbance in an individual's cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior that reflects a dysfunction in the psychological, biological, or developmental processes underlying mental functioning."

Although it's possible personality disorders can occur alongside a range of other mental conditions, psychotic disorders are less likely to be associated with personality disorders. In general, anxiety and mood disorders are commonly associated with personality disorders.
